Overview
Private by design: No accounts, no tracking, no analytics.
answr is built to answer a question in the moment. Your questions are never stored on our servers.
This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use the answr mobile app ("answr", "we", "us").
Data we process
Stored on your device
- History: Questions you ask and answers you view may be saved locally on your device. You can delete this at any time in the app.
- Preferences: Settings such as language are stored locally.
Sent when you request an answer
When you tap to get an answer, the app sends only the minimum needed to generate the response:
- Question text
- Locale (German or English)
We do not attach a user account, device identifier, advertising identifier, or any in-app user ID.
Explore more
When you tap an "explore more" question, we include the previous answer text (content we generated) to provide relevant follow-up answers. We never send your previous questions — only our answer text.
What we do not collect
- Accounts or sign-in information
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or device identifiers (IDFV)
- Location data
- Analytics or tracking events
- Your question history
Network data: Like any internet service, requests are delivered over the network and may be processed by infrastructure providers to deliver the service. We do not use network metadata to identify you, and we do not run tracking.
How answers are generated
answr uses a Cloudflare Worker as a privacy-preserving proxy. Your request is forwarded to an AI model provider (OpenAI) to generate an answer.
- Requests are sent with no user account and no device ID.
- The worker explicitly requests no storage of your request or response by the AI provider.
- We do not store your questions or answers on our servers.
- Each question is processed independently — no conversation history is maintained.
Third-party processors
To provide the service, we use the following third-party processors:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) — Infrastructure and content delivery. Privacy Policy
- OpenAI, LLC (USA) — AI model for generating answers. We request zero data retention. Privacy Policy
- Apple Inc. (USA) — App distribution via App Store. Privacy Policy
Data transfers to the USA are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable, or standard contractual clauses.
Daily curiosities
answr provides daily curiosity questions (German and English). These are generated once per day and cached for fast loading.
- Curiosity lists are generated daily (Europe/Berlin timezone, around midday) and stored server-side only as anonymous question text with pre-generated answers.
- Cached curiosities are retained for 30 days to avoid repeating recent questions, then automatically deleted.
- No personal data is associated with cached curiosities.
Important: Only daily curiosities are cached server-side. Your own questions are generated on-demand and are not stored by us.
Retention and deletion
On our side
- Your questions: Not stored. They are processed to produce a response and then discarded.
- Daily curiosities: Cached for 30 days, then automatically deleted.
On your device
Your history is stored locally on-device. You can clear it at any time in Settings → History → Clear History. Uninstalling the app removes all local data.
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6(1):
- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): Processing your question to provide an answer is necessary to perform the service you requested.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): Caching daily curiosities to provide a fast, reliable experience. Our interest does not override your rights as no personal data is involved in cached curiosities.
Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Because we do not operate user accounts or store your question history server-side, the most effective way to delete your data is to clear history in the app or uninstall it.
To exercise your rights or ask questions, contact us at legal@getanswr.com.
Children and families
answr is designed to be appropriate for ages 10 and up, using clear, kid-friendly language. We do not run behavioral tracking or advertising.
Parents and guardians should supervise use and remind children not to share sensitive personal information in their questions.
AI disclaimer
answr uses AI to generate answers. Answers may be incorrect, incomplete, or outdated. Double-check important information, especially for health, safety, legal, or financial topics.
If you have health concerns or symptoms, consult a medical professional.
